When did you last wield a paintbrush or sit at a pottery wheel?
West Dean College of Arts and Conservation in the glorious Sussex South Downs attracts thousands of students to over 800 creative short courses each year. This makes it one of the largest ranges of such courses on offer in the UK. Students include busy professionals carving out the time to tap into their creativity, and anyone keen to try something new or to develop a skill.
For many, the college set in historic West Dean House is a creative retreat. Founded by Surrealist patron and poet Edward James, it offers a rich heritage of arts, craft and creative possibility. Alongside the short courses are Foundation, Diploma and MFA and MA Conservation Studies programmes whose alumni are working with collections and museums of significance worldwide or pursuing their creative practice.
