However, the air suspension will allow it to drop down to allow those wearing short skirts or kilts a degree of modesty to enter and exit the car. Featuring the highest quality wood and leather British craftsmanship, this luxurious SUV is beyond anything that has been previously made. There are so many controls to take in that you may have to curb your curiosity if driving in traffic and wondering what various buttons will do. With so many options you can specify, it will take new owners a few days to learn them all.
This is not only a very quick car but it will also go places no sports car can. Much of the earth that is not covered in oceans is now at your beck and call. Although many might dismiss the off-road capability as they have no plans to take excursions off piste or into the backwoods, it is precisely the car’s off-road handling that makes it exceptionally safe for unpredictable occurrences on the tarmac. That is what you pay for, peace of mind and the safety of you, your passengers and other road users.
A multitude of switchable sensors offer warnings and help you avoid wandering from lane to lane. Automatic breaking slows the car if the vehicle ahead unexpectedly switches lanes or brakes; night vision with infrared picks out people in yellow; and wing mirrors emit warnings if cars enter your blind spot.
The roads in and surrounding many towns and cities are more often than not laden with traffic, speed cameras, signs and hazards so having a car which lessens the stress has to be applauded. Another valuable safety device is the head up display where the main instruments appear on the windscreen just below the sight line. This allows drivers to keep their eyes on the road rather than glancing down at the speedometer every time a speed camera comes into view.
The ride height of many SUVs makes them wallow around corners but the Bentayga feels like it is on tracks and the positive feedback you get through the bends gives every confidence to enjoy them. There are two engine options, either diesel or petrol. The petrol W12 6 litre engine gives the highest performance while the diesel will take you further for every litre.
Personalisation when buying new will give you a chance to own a unique car but don’t be surprised if your two-seater sports GT starts to gather dust at the back of your garage after the Bentayga is delviered.
