Thorp’s holiday home in Phuket combines privacy, scale and Thai craftsmanship within the Trisara Hotel estate

For one of their longstanding clients, Thorp has created a remarkable holiday home in Phuket, a property that balances scale, seclusion, and sensitivity to its surroundings. Designed to accommodate up to sixteen guests, the residence serves as both a retreat for family and friends and a celebration of Thai craftsmanship and culture.

Set within the private, gated estate of the Trisara Hotel, the home benefits from full security and access to hotel staff, an asset for international homeowners managing property from abroad. The house includes luxuries such as three swimming pools, a cinema room, a gym, and its own private beach.

Architecturally, the property is arranged as interconnected villa-like suites in an H-shaped layout beneath one expansive roof. Each bedroom functions as a self-contained unit with dressing room and bathroom, offering privacy while maintaining unity. Many follow a shared rhythm: beds oriented toward panoramic views, desks positioned behind; others adapt spatially from day to night.

aesthetic. Linen upholstery, fabric-panelled walls, and wardrobes add tactility, while antiques and repurposed Thai garments weave local identity into the design. Darkly stained timber ceilings provide drama and warmth; Thorp reworked the original orange-toned woods into a richer, cohesive palette. Furnishings blend cultures: British-made pieces given Thai-inflected silhouettes complement authentic Thai antiques.

Thorp also reimagined outdoor areas to create intuitive connections between inside and out. White pebbles soften dark roof surfaces visible from terraces, tying architecture to the natural setting.

Throughout, the project reflects collaboration with local Thai craftspeople, rooting the home in its context while achieving international luxury standards.
