Drive: Pristine parade at Salon Privé

The 2018 Salon Privé took place at the finale of the long, hot English summer in the grounds of Blenheim Palace and proved itself a truly vintage event. It featured the European debut of the Lamborghini SVJ and the Brabham BT62 supercar alongside the new Honda NSX and many of the finest new creations from the mainstream and smaller luxury car manufacturers.

This annual event also offered the chance to see the most pristine examples of the rarest classic road and racing cars. The panel of 18 judges for the UK’s most important Concours d’Elégance was headed by five times Le Mans winner Derek Bell MBE. Taking home the prestigious Best of Show Trophy was a stunning 1933 Bugatti Type 55 Roadster, styled by Jean Bugatti.

The 70th anniversary of Porsche featured a parade and trophy presentation and so the Bentley Drivers Club is planning to mark next year’s 100th anniversary of Bentley with a very special tour. Supported by Bentley Motors, participants will drive from the tip of Scotland to the Tower of London taking in Britain’s finest roads and hotels along the way. Most of the spaces have been taken by Bentley owners from the UK and overseas with just a handful of spaces left.
