Barnebys, a search engine for arts and antiques partnering 3,000 auction houses around the world, reports that buyer interest in true miniature works, jewels created by leading artists, is a current trend.
Long intended for a limited market of connoisseurs, these little masterpieces started to appear in auction houses, galleries and fairs from 2000. The advantage is that they are more affordable than a canvas or sculpture and represent the perfect opportunity to acquire a piece of a grand master for a lower price – although some emblematic pieces have been known to reach auction records.
