Florida: Seasons in the Sun

The aptly named Sunshine State of Florida has more than its fair share of good weather as well as a host of fabulous properties from which to enjoy the balmy temperatures.

Florida is the only state that borders both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, meaning that its glorious beaches have become huge tourist attractions. Needless to say, as the home of the world’s best-known theme parks, including Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld, this proves another reason why the state is so popular for holidays and second homes. However, tucked well away from the crowds, Florida has another private side that appeals to those who yearn to get back to nature and enjoy peace and solitude.

Dora Puig is sales and marketing director for Palazzo Del Sol and Palazzo Della Luna on Fisher Island which is just a quick yacht or ferry ride from Miami Beach. “Fisher Island was recognised again as the ‘richest zip code in America’ (Bloomberg News), with the highest concentration of wealth at an average income of $2.2 million,” she explains. “HNWs are attracted to Fisher Island for the privacy and safety, all guests must be cleared by security prior, so there is zero crime rate on the island and no paparazzi.

“The buildings have their own amenities including a theatre, salon, business centre, children’s playroom, Italian butler-staffed aperitivo bar and more. And of course, residents are privy to Fisher Island amenities like the golf course, tennis centre, multiple restaurants, two newly renovated full-service deep-water marinas, private white-sand beaches imported from Bahamas.”

Within the high-end property market, Miami is seeing record-breakers in terms of sales and price per square foot. “The top of the market is on fire,” says Ms Puig. “We expect to continue to an increase in sales from buyers leaving high-tax US states (not just in the luxury sector), as well as global buyers leaving uncertain conditions.”
