Grassi Pietre together with Studio ITO Design has created a fountain (Izumi) and a bench (Konoha). They are made out of Pietranova, an exclusive stone-based material from Grassi Pietre. Izumi means natural source in Japanese and from this source at the centre of the fountain, the water flows to the outside edge on a flat plane, then drops just before the edge.
Thanks to its shape and the water collection system, Izumi can stand in gardens and courtyards or even indoors. The wavy lines surrounding the base resemble circular ripples in water as if caused by a droplet that actually fell. Konoha, which means leaf, is a curved and sinuous stool, a shape that contrasts with its heavy weight. It almost seems as if it is rolling off, blown by the wind. The stool’s shape makes it possible to place it on all its sides, thus creating different sitting planes.
