Swiss based company, JMC Lutherie, uses wood from the finest trees for its handcrafted instruments and has now done the same with a state-of-the-art loudspeaker. The Soundboard speaker is made from 350-year-old wood from the Risoud forest in Switzerland, the same spruce wood used in Stradivarius violins, and requires 80W to drive each of its two channels. Unlike regular loudspeakers, JMC’s new wall-mountable Soundboard uses the resonance of wood to create sound. When mounted it looks like a wall decoration and is available in four shades: natural, dark brown, black or white. There are limited edition collections by the contemporary artists Béatrice Mazzari and Marc J Pasani, as well as having the option of a personal photograph imprinted on the Soundboard.
