Sitting at a desk will never be quite the same again thanks to the Scooter Chair. Bel & Bel already produced decorative pieces by recycling various materials but it was in 2007 that the Barcelona based design company decided to create the first prototype of its Scooter Chair. A Vespa chassis recovered directly from the scrap yard arrived in the studio and a year later became one of Bel & Bel’s most famous and recognisable pieces.
The first Limited Edition BV-08 Scooter Chair was created from the original parts of the legendary Italian scooter from the 80s. The chassis was completely restored, poly-leather upholstered and coated in high-quality paint. From then on, an improvement or extra was added to the design every two years, resulting in the current BV-14 series. The ultra comfortable, ergonomic, swivel chair has a reclining feature, reinforced internal structure, soft tread wheels and a base with hydraulic piston to regulate and adjust to the most convenient height.
While the Scooter Chair’s traditional character and high-end components make it a fine example of contemporary design, it is also a piece emotionally charged for all lovers of this classic and iconic motor scooter. More than 200 handmade units have been sold around the world offering a variety of optional extras (such as functional indicators, customised colours etc). The series is numbered and each Scooter Chair comes with a Bel & Bel certificate of authenticity.
