On location

Lizard Island is Australia’s northernmost island beach resort, located 240 kilometres north of Cairns and 27 kilometres off the coast of North Queensland. Right on the spectacular Great Barrier Reef, the island forms a National Park covering 1,013 hectares with 24 sandy beaches and a lagoon. It’s accessed by air from Cairns Airport in northern Queensland, which, in turn, is accessible from all major Australian airports and directly from some cities in Asia.

With just 40 beautifully appointed villas and suites, guests can choose from the shoreline Anchor Bay Suites; Sunset Suites set high on a ridge with stunning views out over the beach and sea; or for complete privacy The Pavilion with its spectacular 270-degree panorama, expansive deck and private plunge pool to take a cooling dip.

Anchor Bay Rooms

Within a tropical garden setting with easy access to Anchor Bay and the beach, these rooms have a private balcony. Interiors are compact but comfortable and include a Bose sound system with CD player and iPod connectivity. Each Anchor Bay Room includes either a king-size bed or two double beds.

Sunset Point Villas

High on Sunset Ridge amongst native eucalyptus bushland and providing filtered sea views over
Anchor Bay or Sunset Beach, these villas offer privacy and easy access to a string of secluded beaches. Each one has a private deck with comfortable Australian timber chairs and a hammock. Sunset Point Villas also feature a Bose sound system with CD player.

Anchor Bay Suites

Set in a broad sweeping arc along Anchor Bay, with easy access to the main Lodge, Anchor Bay Suites offer captivating sea views and a pathway from each one leading directly to the beach. Seamlessly blending indoors and out in an elegant and spacious open plan design, a large veranda with daybed is one of the many comforts.

The Pavilion

High above the Coral Sea and on the point of Sunset Ridge, The Pavilion combines complete privacy with a spectacular 270-degree panorama of Anchor Bay, Osprey Island and Sunset Beach. An expansive decking area incorporates a private plunge pool, sun lounges and a daybed area, inviting guests to relax and take in the stunning views, leaving the balcony free to stroll on.

With the opportunity to experience some of the world’s most sensational diving, snorkelling right off the beach, gourmet picnics on hidden away beaches and indulgent spa treatments in the Azure Spa, unforgettable moments are never far away. Take a trip on Lizard Island’s purpose-built dive boat, the MV Serranidae. It operates half and full day excursions to stunning inner and outer reef diving sites, including the world famous Cod Hole, renowned for its huge, but friendly, Potato Cod.

Costs

From £2,899 / €3,368 / $4,503 per person per week, inclusive of all meals, selected alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, motorised dinghies, paddle skis, sailboards, glass bottom boat trips and many island activities.
