Northumbrian milliner, Margaret Woodliff Wright, creates couture designs for weddings, special occasions and events such as days at the races. Typically her couture commissions each take around 50 hours to make from design to completion. Margaret has recently celebrated her first year in business by being invited to showcase her creations at two cutting edge international exhibitions marking London Hat Week. Following a visit to a working weaving mill in Bradford, where fabrics for designers including Paul Smith & Armani are created, she was inspired by one of the key structural elements of a modern loom – heald wires. The result was this spectacular headpiece drawing upon the concept of recycling using those self same wires.
