Prince Michael of Kent Attends Parade of Historic Cars at Windsor Castle

HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO, Patron of the Concours of Elegance, is a keen ‘hands on’ motoring enthusiast. As well as being President of The Royal Automobile Club, he is an Honorary Member of the Bentley Drivers’ Club and the British Racing Drivers’ Club. On a sunny Saturday morning in early September, he strolled a mile or so down from the gates of Windsor Castle taking in all the gleaming cars that paraded along the three mile, tree lined road called ‘The Long Walk’. Many of the displays were free to view and thousands of admiring public joined him. For a small fee, access was granted to view the most valuable collection of cars assembled on the lawn within the inner courtyard of the castle. Some had even been flown over from the USA to be shown for the first time at this event. Soldiers from the Coldstream Guards wearing full dress uniforms and bearskin helmets mingled with the crowd which greatly added to the spectacular experience.
