Konforist edu.suites for boys only located in Eyup, Istanbul is based on two blocks of buildings. This specially designed ‘fiction venue’ offers students their own private space but is also suitable for socialising. Externally, the window casing is made of concept colours and designed to reduce the intense southerly light while also providing enhanced privacy.

The custom-designed suites are furnished with closets, desks, kitchen niches and bed compartments for each student’s room. These compartments are separated from each other by letters such as A,B,C and different concept colours to prevent possible confusion. Bed compartments are also designed to have special drawers for storage. All beds are designed with blackout curtains to shield roommates’ desk lights while they work and gives additional privacy. Some rooms are designed in a more luxurious way having with their own living room, fully equipped kitchen, terraces and balconies to resemble a true home environment.
The rooms have an individuality acknowledging the importance of creating common areas intended to improve socialisation; cafe, gentleman’s club with terrace, barbecue terrace, hobby kitchen, study room, computer room, mini cinema and playstation room, game park which includes table tennis, billiards, pinball and dart. Sports and health facilities are also very important for the dormitory. Hence there is a crossfit area, fitness area, sauna, massage room and infirmary areas. Care has been taken throughout each public area to include positive colours and messages with every different place having its own concept. Even the concept of the laundry facility (which can be a horrifying place for an inexperienced young man) has been given a waggish slant with comic hero names given to the washing machines.
The concept of the cafe is that all students become future lawyers, doctors, CEOs etc. So it serves to remind the students that what they decide to be is an important decision and that the profession they choose will change their lives forever. The symbol usage of blackboards everywhere also indicates that students should work hard having made their decision. A selection of chairs placed around a long table depict famous people who have changed the world such as Tesla, Gandhi and Einstein. This signifies that every student has the power to change the world in a better way.
