The world’s largest auction house for investmentquality automobiles, RM Sotheby’s, is returning to the shores of Lake Como, Italy, for its Villa Erba sale on May 27th. Held during the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este weekend, the boutique evening sale will showcase the very best in decadent, stylish and purebred automobiles. For those with a predilection for pre-war coachbuilt motor cars, highlights include a trio of the most coveted of all the sporting 1930s Grand Tourers. The example featured here is the 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C SS ‘Goute d’Eau’ Coupé. Affectionately known as the ‘Teardrop’, it is considered by many as one of the most attractive, aerodynamically inspired automotive designs of all time. Chassis no. 90110, which will come under the auctioneer’s hammer, is the second-ever car built with front fenders and has been restored to concours standards.

Estimated at €3.2m – €4.2m 
