About the House
Near the county town of Chelmsford, this period Essex barn with attached Grade II listed cottage (thought to be over 200 years old) is in a quiet rural setting yet less than 10 minutes from the city centre. Chelmsford has excellent road and rail links to London which is less than an hour away by train. This five-bedroom, four bathroom property was subject to a complete rebuild just over 10 years ago. It features a number of extensively glazed openings where the barn doors originally hung, letting plenty of natural light into the main lounge with its views to the large pond, gardens and countryside. The lounge area is open plan, double height with much of the timber framed walls and roof on display. There is a mezzanine floor above part of the lounge with an additional seating area and a fully glazed gable providing elevated views. To the side of the lounge is a formal dining area with patio doors. The kitchen has an informal dining area and large separate pantry, an electric four oven Aga and an island unit with Obsidian Basalt work surfaces. The barn and cottage are linked together
with an orangery overlooking a formal courtyard with mature box hedges. The cottage features a lounge with large open fireplace, a study, main reception and laundry. The property has garaging for five cars, a workshop, tool store, tractor and garden machine garage, large greenhouse and shed. The gardens cover roughly two acres and include an orchard, grape vines and a large fenced vegetable patch.

About the Car
Ferrari California T The latest version of the front engined V8 California could become the best all rounder Ferrari has ever made. It has everything to thrill you including looks, handling, speed, performance and comfort. This is a car you would delight in taking on a grand tour covering large distances with ease. Having driven lots of performance cars, they are great fun over short distances. However, their very low seating doesn’t deliver the same levels of comfort or excellent view of the road as the California T. It also has the flexibility of giving you the pleasure of open sky motoring or hard top cosiness, simply by triggering the metal roof which emerges from the boot and plants itself above your head in a matter of seconds. Although boasting four seats, those in the rear have limited legroom and so at best are only suitable for children and on short runs. The car is turbo charged but unlike the early compressor assisted engine cars which proliferated in the 80s and 90s. While their turbo lag resulted in a delay before unbridled power spun the back wheels, this car has none of the vices but all the advantages. These include better performance, lower emissions and rapid acceleration. The secret may be due to it having two turbos rather than one. Engineers have managed to extract a lot more power from a smaller engine than the previous model, giving owners the bonus of more fuel economy – almost achieving 27 miles per gallon.
