SuperYacht: Thrill of the Ocean

Fraser is a full-service yachting company, specialising in luxury yacht sales, superyacht charter, construction and yacht management. It offers the highest standard in both motor and sailing yachts from 20 metres up to 110 metres. Frances Edgeworth, charter broker for Fraser, says, “All yachts are thoroughly inspected and the crews assessed to ensure that we are only offering the very best. The majority of our charter clients go for motor yachts as they offer more space, over multiple decks, thus allowing separate areas for guests to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.  Having said that, we have a substantial amount of sailing fanatics amongst our clientele who enjoy the thrill of the ocean and the advantages that a great sailing yacht has to offer.”

Once Fraser knows a client’s dates, preferred destinations and what the purpose is for their charter, they are provided with a tailor-made selection of yachts that fit their requirements and taste. “We then walk the client through the best aspects of each yacht,” explains Frances, “including the toys on offer, sample menus, activities available and best itinerary. Once they’ve decided on their preferred yacht, we look after all aspects involved in providing the perfect holiday.”

Fraser covers all destinations worldwide, wherever a yacht can feasibly cruise. “Most popular is usually the Cote d’Azur, Italian Riviera, Greek Islands and then in winter many clients like to escape the cold and head to the Caribbean. Having said that, we can also cater to the more adventurous. For example, we have seen increasing interest in clients wishing to go to destinations such as Antarctica, South East Asia and French Polynesia.”

Every wish is catered for on board and each yacht has its own hand-picked crew trained to the highest standard in service and hospitality.

The charter fee includes rental of the yacht, crew and insurance. In addition to this, Fraser takes an APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance), which is the client’s on-board cash, and pays for expenses such as food, drinks, port fees, fuel and any other special requests the client may have for their charter.  Depending on the country in which the client will embark and cruise in, VAT or tax may also be due.

Every wish is catered for on board and each yacht has its own hand-picked crew trained to the highest standard in service and hospitality. “Some of the best chefs in the world have been drawn to working in yachting and the clients can decide on what they would like to eat, when, how often during their charter and which fine wines they would like to pair their dishes with.  Several yachts also offer the services of a spa, masseuse, water sports and fitness instructors as well as guides to show you the best aspects of the destination you’re visiting.

“Communication and preparation is the key to a fantastic yacht charter so make sure you give your brokers all details on what you want to do and see in advance so that they can ensure you’re provided with an unforgettable experience.”
