Enzo Ferrari once said that, ‘the sound of a 12-cylinder engine must be listened to as if it were a symphony’; while a great orchestral conductor, Herbert Von Karajan, replied that ‘the sound of a 12-cylinder Ferrari is like a melody which no conductor would ever manage to reproduce’. Now mechanics and sound come together in ‘iXOOST’ – a dock station where the body of the audio system is in fact a genuine exhaust manifold from an eight, 10 or 12-cylinder supercar. Developed from an idea by Matteo Panini and the pencil of Mirco Pecorari, this is the first audio system for iPhones and iPods made entirely in Modena, Italy.
What’s more, just like a supercar, iXOOST can be personalised by choosing the colour, metallic finish, the kind of leather and even the Allen screws you prefer. There is also a specially created app which turns the iPod or iPhone into the perfect partner for the iXOOST. The iPhone or iPod provides the input for symphonies, legendary rock concerts or even recordings of the roar of Formula 1 cars. All can be enjoyed with an exceptional technical level of sound reproduction, thanks to the presence of specially developed loudspeakers and an active subwoofer offering an out of the ordinary listening experience.
