Forget the herbaceous borders and rose gardens when you next visit an English Heritage or National Trust property – these days visiting a stately home is likely to find you contemplating a Damien Hirst. Trust New Art, launched by the National Trust in 2009, now has more than 50 projects ranging from modest interventions to major installations.

In Derbyshire, Chatsworth House hosts a series of talks named Art Out Loud leading visitors through the treasures. In the landmark setting of the 18th century palace, the Blenheim Art Foundation has a major show of work by the visionary Yves Klein until October while an impressive collection of modern art can be seen at Houghton Hall in Norfolk, including a ‘Skyspace’ by the American artist James Turrell.

Art Out Loud from September 21st – 23rd at Chatsworth House, Bucks, UK
