Sculptor Cathy Azria specialises in creating structural compositions for fireplaces. Lit or unlit, they are significant works of art, using natural materials and organic forms. Each fire is a one-off, signed by its creator.
One of Cathy’s best known concepts is ‘Bonfire’, a theme she has developed in many different ways. Steel ‘branches’ glow and expand in the gas-fired flames, emitting cracking and popping sounds and providing a different experience every time it is lit. Inspiration for the Loop fire pictured here came from the rings around the planet Saturn and the fire makes a stellar statement – with flames leaping up through a sculpture of steel loops. Made to special commission, Loop fires can be made to any size and each one is individually handmade, signed and dated by Cathy.
