Chartering a Superyacht – Sunseeker’s Newest Yacht ‘Fleur’

Ask any yacht charterer what it is that attracts them to the high seas and they will tell you all about the service, personal chefs, island-hopping itineraries and water sports heaven. And that would only be the beginning. Camper & Nicholsons has 17 brokers based in Europe and the USA, and between them they have first-hand knowledge of all the yachts and cruising destinations. Edu Valfre, charter broker London, says,

“The process couldn’t be easier. Camper & Nicholsons’ charter broker will take care of the entire process, beginning with sound advice on the best yachts and destinations, and then help with all the necessary paperwork to make the whole process as simple as possible.
“As they create the itinerary, every consideration is taken into account. They will make recommendations, organise flights, reservations and bookings, brief the captain and crew on all requirements so they can provision the yacht and, in short, take care of the entire process from start to finish.”

Motor or sail? Camper & Nicholsons’ charter brokers know all the yachts and their crews and ambiences, and have a special skill in matching them to the particular requirements of every charter party.

“Should a client favour the style of a modern motor yacht, the history of a classic yacht or the exhilarating romance of a sailing yacht, there is something to suit every taste,”

explains Mr Valfre.

“Whatever the choice, one can be assured of the utmost comfort and luxury with air-conditioning on most yachts, along with excellent leisure facilities.
“The yacht’s crew will always provide a professional service, but depending on preferences they can either create a subtle and private ambience or a more relaxed, interactive ‘family’ atmosphere. If the clients have a special interest in culture, sport, history, wildlife, or even shopping, the yacht charter can be tailored and can also feature plenty of inspired excursions.”

The charter broker, captain and crew will suggest and plan some fantastic ideas for each individual cruise, but if there are any wild and wonderful requests they can also make arrangements. They will ensure the yacht is stocked with special foods and wines, music, and films, water sports equipment, toiletries and even the client’s favourite flowers and magazines. They are also happy to arrange restaurant reservations and can organise a round of golf, professionally guided trips ashore and private limousine and helicopter transfers. Plan well ahead Ideally a charter should be booked as early as possible or at least six months in advance. However, some of the more popular yachts, cruising in the West Mediterranean in July or August, for example, may be booked up to a year in advance.

As a general rule, the following areas should be visited during these months:
• South Pacific & Polynesia: April to August
• West Mediterranean: May to September
• East Mediterranean: May to October
• New England & the Baltic: June to August
• Antarctica: July
• Pacific Northwest: July & August
• Caribbean, Bahamas, South East Asia, South America, Seychelles & the Maldives: December to April
• Australia: December to April
• New Zealand: December to March 
