Music To The Ears And Eyes

Guaranteed to enrich your home, not only musically but also aesthetically, the Steinway Heliconia Spirio grand piano is both beautiful and elegant. The designers’ challenge was to create an instrument which would unite the qualities and characteristics of Steinway & Sons with those of Lalique. They therefore opted for a classic design from Lalique’s archives.

Originally designed in 1992 by Marie-Claude Lalique – the granddaughter of René Lalique – the heliconia flower forms the perfect decor for these fine instruments. Lovingly crafted at the Lalique manufactory in Alsace, 75 crystals make the instrument shine, while silver-coloured inlays are decoratively arranged into the design, creating fabulous reflections.

Each grand piano is fitted with a special plaque on the inside the housing, which can be personalised if wished. As well as the standard black or white finishes, special requests are also possible, such as the use of high-quality veneers or additional colours. At the touch of the iPad provided, the Spirio app connects you to hundreds of performances, bringing the piano to life. This exclusive Spirio library, which is regularly and automatically updated, features everything from J.S. Bach, through Irving Berlin to Billy Joel, regardless of your playing ability.

Raising The Bar

Right from an early age, David Linley’s creative ability was nurtured by his parents, Princess Margaret and the eminent photographer Lord Snowdon. He founded his company Linley in 1985 and it has since earned a world-renowned reputation for fusing innovative design with superlative cabinet-making.

The Tectonic Bar is an excellent example of his company’s work. Exquisitely crafted in ebonised walnut with white gold leaf and nickel accents, it epitomises the intricacy and precision of fine craftsmanship at its best. Moving away from the use of tropical hardwoods, the timbers used in the creation of this piece are all indigenous to Great Britain. The walnut skin of the bar appears to split as if tectonic plates beneath the earth have broken it apart to reveal the glowing metallic core within. Cracks in the surface revealing metallic rivets, form the outlines of the continents of the world in a conceptual and abstract manner.

A secret button unlocks the bar cabinet enabling the doors to open, setting a mechanism in motion to rotate the bar columns, revealing specialist Linley cocktail accessories; everything you need to create the bespoke cocktail of your choice. Lined with gold leaf, the interior shimmers with an exquisite glow.

In true Linley style, there are other secrets hidden inside, including a fridge and, buried in the depths of the bar, a cigar humidor which rises up as if from the centre of the molten earth. Bursting with secret compartments and defined by precision engineering, the bar is ideal for storing precious spirits, liqueurs, vintage champagne and for whipping up the perfect gin and tec-tonic!
