MB&F teams up with L’Epée to create the Albatross, a striking masterpiece

The MB&F Albatross, a collaboration with L’Epée, represents a leap in horological craftsmanship. Featuring 1,520 components, this clock is an intricate masterpiece.

Its hour function not only chimes the full hours but also signals the half-hour with a single strike. The standout feature is the world’s first “hélices au passage,” an automaton with 32 propellers that activate every hour. Designed by Eric Meyer, the Albatross draws inspiration from Jules Verne’s “Robur the Conqueror” and his obsession with flying machines. Inside, two movements are powered by three barrels – one for time and striking hours, another for the propeller automation.

The clock, with a power reserve of eight days for timekeeping and one day for the automaton, weighs 17kg and measures 60cm in height and length. Available in limited editions, it showcases a miniature cockpit inside, visible through a top porthole. Albatross comes in five colours, each limited to just eight pieces.
