The 106.7m three-masted sailing yacht, Black Pearl, is one of the most audacious superyacht projects to have been launched in the 21st century.

Built by Oceanco and delivered in 2018, it was Lateral Naval Architects who played a pivotal role in the conception and development of the yacht’s innovative hybrid propulsion system. The Lateral team was also involved with systems design, structural consultancy and weight engineering. All 2,900m² of sails can be set at the push of a button in seven minutes. When the wind is up and she is sailing, Black Pearl uses the hybrid propulsion system to generate electrical power from the propellers, which results in long periods of zero carbon sailing. Alongside other onboard systems to further reduce her carbon footprint, such as efficient hull insulation and waste heat recovery, Black Pearl is one of the most innovative and sustainable yachts on the water today.
