Swiss bliss in Montenegro

A new life-style project, Swissôtel Residences, is about to commence in Kotor, Montenegro creating a haven of serenity and comfort on the shores of the Adriatic. Jill Keene visits the area to find out more.

Five national parks of rare beauty, breath-taking views of numerous lakes bordering green landscapes and majestic mountains – this is Montenegro, one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the Adriatic region. It’s little surprise that yacht tourism also forms a significant part of the attraction, this being an ideal destination for super-lux yacht owners.

Hexagon Investments is currently launching the construction of its new residence and hotel project, Swissôtel Residences in Kotor. I stayed in this remarkably scenic town whose Old City is on the UNESCO World Heritage list to explore the 42,000m² site.

Swissôtel Residences, Bay of Kotor will be situated only 3km away from the Old Town, 9km away from Tivat airport, and just an hour’s drive from Podgorica airport. This makes it an easy destination for travellers from all over Europe and Russia. Guests and residents will enjoy the colourful culture of Montenegro, the rich variety of local cuisine, serenity of Kotor and the energetic buzz of nearby Budva. The project’s location will also make it a centre for one-day tours from the famous Dubrovnik resort for those who wish to discover the Adriatic coast of Montenegro and the scenic Bay of Kotor. My flights were to and from Dubrovnik and I can thoroughly recommend the approximately 90-minute drive between the two which takes you through glorious countryside with stunning mountain backdrops.

Construction works for the Swissôtel Residences start in July and the project will be ready for occupancy in 2020, making it the first branded project in Kotor. It includes 175 residential units and a 137-room, five-star hotel with a total of 50,000m² of guest accommodation and housing space. Additionally, residents and guests will enjoy sports and leisure activities in a 15,000m² forest zone. They will also have access to a 250-metre private beach as well as facilities offered at the owners’ lounge which can be used for all kinds of celebrations and events. Residents will also be able to take advantage of the full range of optional and à la carte Swissôtel services provided by the hotel. These include in-residence dining, catering, private transport, laundry and housekeeping services, use of the state-of-the-art fitness and spa centre as well as room, valet and concierge services.

Life is a journey; live it well

Owners will have the option to participate in a rental program operated by Swissôtel, enabling them to let their property while they are not using it. Swissôtel Residences will incorporate the very essence of Swiss hospitality, providing guests with all manner of privileges to ensure they enjoy every minute of their stay. The brand’s philosophy behind its motto ‘Life is a journey; live it well’ invites everyone to start anew and cherish every day. With this in mind, Residence owners will also enjoy VIP status at the resort, including preferred pricing at the hotel’s restaurants and bars, as well as being eligible for exclusive benefits and privileges at more than 4,000 AccorHotel properties worldwide.

Swissôtel Residences will combine the outstanding natural beauty of Kotor Bay with the brand’s renowned comfort and design. All the apartments will boast a remarkable view with 75 per cent facing the sea, while the remainder overlook the pools and forest. Designed to be in harmony with the historical architectural style of Kotor, the buildings’ façades will be developed using local natural materials, particularly stone, to preserve both the character and colours of the old town. Residential interiors will convey the utmost in modern luxury and comfort, paired with Swissôtel’s signature design. The general landscape surrounding the residential units and hotel features Mediterranean style design with colourful, characteristic plants amid lush greenery. This is definitely a project to watch out for and I look forward to returning to Montenegro in 2020 to see the finished result.
