with an exhibition of works of art cementing its reputation as a home of Hyperrealism. Located near the emerging cultural quarter that will surround the new US Embassy at Nine Elms, the works will appeal not only to investors, collectors and interior designers looking for statement works of art as botanical and flower painting makes a comeback.
Dutch Golden Age painters of the 17th century excelled in flower painting where, despite the intense realism, blooms from very different seasons were depicted as bouquets. Following in this tradition and now on show at the gallery is Lake Placid Bouquet, by Ben Schonzeit, where flowers from different seasons are shown in a vase in front of an imaginary evening landscape.
Other works include The British Pound, a piece made of salvaged wood by a Dutch sculptor Diederick Kraaijeveld and bronze sculpture, i-people, by Paul Day. Among the 25 artists on show, three have works represented in the National Portrait Gallery – Craig Wylie, Philip Harris and Andrew Tift.
From January 25th to February 24th, 2017
