Furniture commissions representing a love of wood and years of dedication

Ark Boddington founded Silverlining furniture over 35 years ago, wanting to pursue his love of working with wood and create unique pieces.

Through some chance encounters, including once meeting actor Kevin Costner’s interior designer on a plane, Mark’s business grew, and today employs a workforce of more than 70. Silverlining creates bespoke commissions, including furniture for superyachts. Projects often take between one and four years to complete. During the fabrication process, many clients choose to visit the workshop, meet the team, see the work in progress, and witness at first-hand the meticulous craftsmanship that’s involved.

The Hortensia Breakfast table is a bespoke piece based on the hydrangea flower, and created using transitional wood dying, silver inlay and high reflection wood and metal finishing. The transitional ombré effect of this spectacular marquetry pattern is created from rippled sycamore veneer, dyed with cobalt blue and black dyes that bleed into one another. Further embellishment is then added by inlaying precious metal silver insets, outlining the perimeter of the flower petals, with white mother-of-pearl, representing the central pistils.

Commissions start from: £35,000 / €40,873 / $48,504
